Program areas at Iris House
FOOD NUTRITION SERVICES From January-December 2023, Iris House served 14,877 lunches, distributed 15,728 pantry bags containing 220,192 meals, as well as 20,370 fresh market produce bags containing 142,590 meals. The Food and Nutrition Services also provided 683 food vouchers for 16,392 meals. Total meals served in 2022 was 394,051. An estimated 5,391 unduplicated people received food in 2022 including 3,288 adults, 1,833 children, and 270 seniors.
PREVENTION Prevention education services are provided to populations with the highest rates of new infections and communities facing health disparities particularly men women of color, MSM, youth women who sleep with women. CDC evidence-based interventions are offered in New York and New Jersey as well as an Iris House developed intervention, Loving Ourselves. Prevention education services were provided to 1,200 participants via one on one and groups sessions. More specifically, Loving Ourselves reached 47 HIV negative women 40 prevention education workshops were completed with 217 participants 61 individuals attended CLEAR 162 emotional wellness sessions were conducted 23 faith- based workshops with 415 participants 40 women participated in Healthy Relationships, 24 Love Your Life support groups with 240 participants ETE efforts included 92 outreach endeavors reaching 5,732 individuals including 113 PrEP PEP education sessions. There were 1,357 HIV tests administered, 170 gonorrhea screenings, 348 syphilis screenings, 170 chlamydia screenings, 643 Hepatis C tests.
HOUSING PROGRAMS Scatter Site Housing Program 1 SSHP1, Scatter Site Housing Program 2 SSHP2, Housing Opportunities for People Living with HIV/AIDS HOPWA, and IRIS NYC 15/15. Our housing programs are tailored to meet the needs of adults living with HIV and/or living with a mental health diagnosis or substance use disorder. During 2022, Iris House supportive housing programs provided housing and case management services for 161 clients totaling 5,679 supportive services including service planning, assessments, internal and external referrals and connection to medical care. Nine clients were employed in educational institutions/Department of Education DOE in administrative roles, and medical/ Registered Nurse assignments. Additionally clients have gained employment as Home Health Aides, and in the restaurant/food industry. The Housing Maintenance Department completed 418 work orders, 1348 home inspections and provided 1310 services.
