Program areas at Iowa Valley Resource Conservation
Regional food initiative - Iowa Valley's overarching initiative to improve local and regional food system connections and opportunities. The Iowa Valley rc&d has contracts with usda to develop farm to school programs, provide food safety resources to area farmers, and social media coaching to farmers market vendors and managers.
Scenic byway - building and promoting the Iowa Valley scenic byway and lincoln highway. Iowa Valley rc&d has a contract with idot to implement the Iowa Valley scenic byway interpretive master plan and Iowa Valley scenic byway corridor master plan along the 77-mile designated route and within the area designated as byway corridor.
Johnson county historic poor farm - this program utilizes 160 acres of farmland in city limits to house several farm programs including a land access program, charitable food production areas, and garden education. More than 30,000 pounds of produce grown and distributed to several hunger relief agencies in johnson county.
