Living building challenge around the world - widely accepted as the most innovative green building standard in the world, the living building challenge has a straightforward purpose: to define the most advanced measures of sustainability in the built environment possible today & act to diminish the gap between current limits & ideal solutions. As such, the living building challenge is a philosophy, advocacy tool, & certification program that addresses buildings at all scales. It is comprised of seven performance areas, or 'petals': place, water, energy, health + happiness, materials, equity & beauty. Over 400 buildings are pursuing the challenge in 29 countries on 6 continents. We directly reached an estimated 50,000 people through our extensive outreach & media coverage, & indirectly reached thousands more.

Living product challenge and declare: our declare program is the ingredients label for building products. Manufacturers voluntarily join the program and disclose the components of their products in a declare label. By providing manufacturers and suppliers of building materials a clear, elegant and informative content label, declare aims to transform the marketplace through transparency and open communication. Select products are listed on a declare database, and their labels can be viewed on-line. Accepted products may display their declare label on their products signaling to the marketplace their leadership position. The living product challenge is a framework for manufacturers to create products that are healthy, inspirational, and give back to the environment.

Conferences and events: our 13th annual living future unconference was an overwhelming success, with over 1,000 of the industry's leaders and most innovative and forward thinking green building practitioners and advocates gathering in portland, or for a sold out event. We also held our third living product expo in pittsburgh, pa bringing together the most innovative green product manufacturers with the innovative designers and builders. In addition, we held the net positive symposium for higher education focusing on inspiring, educating & igniting action that creates a living future within higher education institutions.
