Natural resources:escalating competition for natural resources continues and poor people too often lose out. We aim to support and shape fairer, more sustainable governance of natural resources by generating the evidence needed to improve key policies, institutions and legal frameworks. Our priority is on increasing local control and management of natural resources and other ecosystems by working in partnership with networks and organisations in africa, asia and latin america. Through research, dialogue and action, we raise awareness of the key role that small-scale producers and local people play in maintaining their resources, and help identify tools and tactics to strengthen their capacity.
Human settlements:the human settlements programme works through partnerships to create towns and cities that are sustainable, prosperous, resilient, healthy and safe, and inclusive and equitable. We do this by generating high quality evidence, shaping debates, building coalitions, and influencing policies and practices at multiple scales.
Climate change:climate change disproportionately affects the poorest people in the world. We work with policy and research partners to redress the balance by helping the poor in low and middle-income countries achieve climate resilience and Development. We strive for fair deals for people exposed to increasingly severe and unpredictable climate that can destroy livelihoods and exacerbate poverty. In particular, we identify, generate, share and employ new knowledge that can be used to shape Development polices, practices and programmes to address climate change.
