Drl botswana: with our partners in botswana, we leverage the International human rights framework to ensure that lgbti persons enjoy the rights to which they are entitled as citizens. Afghan Women - iawj is working to support afghan Women Judges, including providing travel assistance to those leaving afghanistan. Gfems - working in kenya and uganda to reduce the prevalence of modern slavery within communities and industries while building the evidence base to better understand which interventions and models meet that objective most effectively.
Biennial conference: the biennial conference occured in marrakesh, morrocco in may of 2023. The theme of the conference was "Women Judges: achievements and challenges" with sub themes of trauma and resilience, sisterhood and solidarity and innovation and leadership. The conference was hosted by the union of moroccan Women Judges and featured over 600 Women Judges from throughout the world.
Co-impact: the initiative, led by the iawj, pilots programs in five countries: nigeria, kenya, south africa, and the philippines. The iawj seeks to advance human rights and equal justice for Women and girls by empowering Women on the bench to overcome gender bias in the laws and their application. This initiative will support iawj to grow its membership, expand programming and design country-relevant initiatives in five countries based on data collection and country needs.
