Program areas at IDEPSCA
Resource centers located in wilmington, hollywood, cypress park, fashion district downtown la, and van nuys, serving as workforce and leadership development hubs for day laborers, household workers & their families under contract with the city of los angeles. Annually, about 2 ,000 registered members are registered and connected to thousands of short and long term employment opportunities. Workers also receive access to workforce development training as well as opportunities onsite including referrals for housing, immigration support, health services and wage claim support during the covid-19 emergency, these centers have also become hubs for community food, financial and ppe access.
Mujeres en accion is our household worker education, outreach and leadership development program focusing on civic engagement and rights education. During the covid emergency the program has included virtual and in person trainings in the area of green cleaning, occupational health & safety, and other worker rights as well as providing direct financial and food support. We have also distributed fresh produce, hygiene products, face masks for adults and children, menstrual products and cash assistance to over 400 domestic workers.
Workers health program: access to health through direct services at our worker centers , main office and referrals. The health program serves hundreds of workers annually. During the fiscal year these services have included free annual flu vaccine clinic done in conjunction with the los angeles county department of public health. The health program has continued to provide support to day laborers and domestic workers impacted by climate disasters including wildfires extreme heat and flooding. This support includes provisioning of ppe and training. The program expanded to include food and financial support to workers impacted by the covid pandemic as well as coordina- -ting multiple covid vaccine clinics at one of our day labor centers.
