Institute for Socio-Ecological Research is committed to working directly with local communities by conducting participatory research and engagement. The goal of the FEP project is to develop a framework for a Fishery Ecosystem Plan for the US Caribbean, which will be used to develop an Ecosystem-based Fisheries Management Plan for the US Caribbean by the Caribbean Fisheries Management Council. The coral restoration project aims to reintroduce Diadema antillarum, an important herbivore, to enhance the conditions of the coral reefs around Puerto Rico.
