The blood banking unit has accomplished a continuous, safe, and adequate supply of blood products by educating and recruiting blood donors, providing accessible donation sites, ensuring a healthy donor is drawn, and testing donations for viral markers. In the year ended 2017, 139,187 productive units of blood were collected.

The testing unit provides a safe supply of blood products by strict adherence to the FDA, CLIA, AABB, OSHA, GMP, Etc. Guidelines to release a completely safe product. On an on-going basis the unit updates reagents used to perform tests for viral markers.
