Program areas at Idaho Grain Producers Association
Lobbying/legislative: represent the interests of Idaho wheat and barley growers at the state and federal levels. Worked with Idaho congressional delegation and national Grain affiliates on legislation to reauthorize federal farm programs and policies beneficial to Idaho Grain farmers.
Conventions: the igpa sponsors, promotes, hosts, and/or attends various state, regional, and national meetings and conventions eachyear. Annual conventions include the national Association of wheat growers (nawg) fall and winter board of directors meetings and theannual commodity classic convention. In addition, the igpa attends two (winter and summer) national board meetings annually of thenational barley growers Association. We also participate in other strategic meetings or trips to gather information and/or to testify on issues specific to the Grain industry. Igpa hosts an annual convention in conjunction with Oregon and Washington, the tri-state Grain growers convention, which serves as an educational and networking forum for growers, in addition to two igpa board meetings (fall and winter) in boise.
Publications: igpa serves as editor of a quarterly magazine that reports on issues, trends, research, statistics, and other topics to a circulation of 13,000 farmers and agribusinesses. The publication is a joint effort with the Idaho wheat commission and the Idaho barley commission. Additionally, igpa communicates through newsletters, bi-weekly harvesters (a smaller, more frequent newsletter), and emails to report pertinent information to grower members. Igpa also maintains a website and a social media presence on facebook, instagram, and twitter to engage its membership and the general public.
