Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum was formed with the mission to obtain the USCGB Mackinaw and convert it into a museum that will collect, preserve, protect and interpret the history of Coast Guard presence on the Great Lakes from the early 1940s to present. The corporation actively pursues acquisition of the vessel and all interpretive programs aim to educate visitors on the importance of boats in an entertaining manner.
