Economic Development activities include the operation of Spring Plaza Business Complex, a 21,000 sf community-based retail, business and office facility that houses small business incubator spaces with coaching services available to develop, launch and/or grow micro-enterprises, and commercial tenants, along with 2 additional commercial buildings housing strategic partnerships that 1 deliver high-quality health services that are affordable to low-to-moderate income households, and 2 provide access to continuing education and training to positively impact participants economic mobility. During 2022 ICDC began using renewable energy on our campus. Our new installed 50.8kW solar panel array at 4907 Spring Avenue marks a milestone in our environmental justice efforts and will help alleviate some of the energy consumption that exacerbates heat islands. Also during 2022 ICDC launched an initiative aimed at identifying micro-enterprise owners doing business in South Dallas/Fair Park to help them grow by mentoring with business bankers.
Housing - ICDCs Homeownership Center provides customized, on-on-one counseling and case management to potential first-time homeowners, including pre-purchase and post-purchase education, and refers as necessary to other developers. During 2022 ICDC completed construction on and sold two homes in the Mill City neighborhood of Fair Park, which were the final units of a group of six single family affordable homes begun in 2019. The addition of six new homeowners represents a significant increase in property tax revenue over the next decade. Over a dozen prospective first-time homebuyers participated in ICDC homebuyer education workshops helping to cultivate a pipeline of mortgage ready buyers as we continue to expand home ownership opportunities in South Dallas/Fair Park. During 2022 ICDC has been active in two local initiatives focused on racial equity as it relates to access to capital for small businesses and affordable housing.
