Program areas at Humanity Plus
The Organization made donations to educational organizations that promote transhumanist studies throughout the world, especially in STEM fields. Specifically, the Organization supports research on artificial intelligence for girls coding and for building narrow AI for human benefits. The Organization sponsored the Blockchain Prize on Mutual Benefits of Blockchain and Transhumanism, with three runner up awards of $1,000.00 each and the winning essay prize of $5,000.00. The organization also funded a Research Fellow at Harvard, whose work was focused on building new uses of narrow AI and cognitive science in collaboration with researchers at MIT. The organization also sponsored the Solve IT competition guiding young Ethiopians into the realm of tech entrepreneurship by providing technical and theoretical training courses on software, hardware, and marketing concentrated toward the concept of start-ups, and pro-poor technologies.
The Organization publishes H+ magazine, covering technological, scientific, and cultural trends that are changing humans in fundamental ways. The Organization also conducted a video prize logo design; education documentary on transhumanism in response to negative publicity.
The Organization hosted multiple international conferences and events in 2018. In June 2018 Humanity+ sponsored and hosted a conference in Beijing, China on AI as a Multidisciplinary Approach: Our model in analyzing the dynamic interplay of accelerating technology is based on opportunity analysis. The Organization also co-sponsored events in Madrid and London. In this sphere, much of our focus is on technologies that help humanity overcome odds. Looking into the near-term future, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, dynamic interfaces, and anticipated future technologies foster new forms of energy and opportunities for space exploration. The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art provided the venue for the topics on AI robotics, and associated technologies advance, more and more of the practical functions now served by humans will be done by automated systems. There will also arise possibilities for humans to fuse with machines in various ways. The impact of all this on human life will depend on psychology, social organization and culture. In the best scenarios, liberation of humans from the necessity to carry out practical tasks, will lead to a flourishing of human and transhuman fulfillment. The Organization also co-sponsored and chaired events for the promotion of transhumanist studies, with a focus on STEM fields and ethical use of technology. Humanity+ conferences explore innovations of evidence-based science and ethical use of technology and their relationship to humanity. The Organization participated in the Arizona State University Governance of Emerging Technology.
