HMC annually organizes the nation's premier winter marathon, half-marathon, and 5K. Over 300,000 participants, volunteers, and spectators make Houston Marathon Race Day the largest single-day sporting event in Houston. The Houston annual running event is held on a weekend in January. The event includes the Houston Marathon (approximately 10,000 runners), the Houston Half-Marathon (approximately 13,500 runners), and a 5k race (approximately 5,000 runners).
