Program areas at HCC

Housing Services - provided housing-related services to low and moderate income residents of the west side of manhattan, including: legal services, pre-litigation advocacy and community/tenant organizing. in 2018, hcc staff assisted more than 4,177 low-income households from manhattan's west side, including full legal representation in 480 matters; in-depth advocacy to 441 households, advice/counsel to 454 households; hosted community legal education workshop benefitting 1,159 attendees, which includes tenant rights' education for 31 tenant associations (595 total attendees); and community workshops on various legal issues benefitting 389 community members; pro se workshops benefitting 534 attendees at hcc's 13th annual west side tenant conference and legal workshops; and referrals to legal and social service providers benefitting 6,326 families.

Weatherization installed in 146 units of low-income Housing energy-efficient measures that included heating system distribution upgrades, energy-efficient lighting retrofits, low-flow showerheads, health and safety measures, and roof fan ventilators. There is a required owner contribution.
