Program areas at Horizon High School Band Parent Association
Musical training provided for individual band sections by independent contractors. There are more than 120 students among the various band classes at Horizon High School. There are 2 full-time teachers that provide musical instruction but it is beneficial to have instruction in a smaller group setting. Students are divided into groups according to instrument played in order to maximize instruction. A separate independent contractor was paid to design the drill for the marching band show for the 2020-2021 season.
Music and copyrights for distribution for the 2020-2021 marching show were purchased. Microphones and other pieces of equipment were also purchased to enable distance learning.
T-shirts were purchased for approximately 120 students to maintain some sense of normalcy and to celebrate the 2020-2021 marching season despite the pandemic. This cost $2049.50. The remaining expenses included dry cleaning of the uniforms from the 2019-2020 marching season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the uniforms were not cleaned at the end of the 2019-2020 school year because access was denied to the school building where the uniforms are stored. Face masks as well as apparel for staff were also purchased.
