Microgrid program: this program designs and implements cooperatively- managed, locally owned solar microgrids serving communities especially impacted by the effects of climate change. The Honnold Foundation's microgrid program is a flagship initiative that develops community- owned solar microgrids in places especially susceptible to the impacts of climate change. Our inaugural project is the adjuntas microgrid, a 187 kw photovoltaic system powering 13 businesses in a small town in puerto rico. In 2022, we finalized all solar installations and began preparations for battery storage finalization in 2023.
Levine impact lab: launched in 2022, the levine impact lab program provides 3 years of nonprofit leadership and organizational capacity building support to grassroots environmental justice non-profits in the us. Additionally, each year, organizations in this program receive financial support through annual grants. The program was spun off into an independent nonprofit organization at the end of 2023, and funds pledged to the program in 2022 were reallocated to this new 501c3.
