Program areas at HAF
My access to network opportunities- Hispanic Access Foundation's Mano Project partnered with the National Park Service, US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management to operate youth career development programs, which are designed to train young people in the skills of cultural, historical, and natural resource management. As part of the program, Hispanic Access Foundation recruited and placed more than 170 interns at various public land sites. Undergraduate, recent graduates and graduate students worked alongside agency staff adn received additional training, mentoring, and support through Hispanic Access Foundation. The Mano Project is an educational project partially funded by the Federal Government. No Mano Project funds are spent on lobbying activites.
Conservation Program- This program harnesses the Latino Community's passion for public lands and the outdoors to increase their capacity to engage in the conservation of land and water in order to ensure good health and well being for generations to come. Por la creacion faith based alliance engaged youth, families, and communities throughout the West in conservation projects and outdoor experiences to educate and build leadership in conservation and to imporve public health. Latino leaders collaborated to protect national monuments, the land and water conservation fund and the Colorado River. The Hispanic Access Foundation Initiative Latino Conservation week was held in July engaging 180 partners in over 150 community events nationwide. Additonally, Hispanic Access Foundation screened its film "Land, Water, Y Comunidad" in multiple states accross the country.
Health - This is a vaccination Hesitancy Program Through Health Service and Resources Administration (HRSA) began November 1, 2021. Hispanic Access Foundation utilized the first three months for planning, strategy and piloting the program. In Early December, Hispanic Access Foundation Brought some of its key community advisors to December to experience a pilot clinic. From that pilot clinic, Hispanic Access Foundation established a manual for implementation of the program at other locations. In addition, Hispanic Access Foundation selected all supervisors for each site. The total for the HRSA project was 10,325 vaccinations that included boosters and first time. We reached over 350,000 people through 900 outreach activities from a heavy Latino/Spanish speaking dominant community.
