Program areas at HelpBerkeley
Funded Meals: In 2023, HelpBerkeley procured and home-delivered more than 20,000 free meals or meal equivalents, in the form of groceries or of ready-made meals, for recipients who could not afford them, in Berkeley and neighboring communities. We have a network of 10+ non-profit organizations with whom we work to identify recipients.
FUD: (For Unlimited Diabetics): HelpBerkeley operates a national diabetes forum, appearing as the #2 or #3 forum in the country when looking at google search presence.
HB.Org": In 2023, HelpBerkeley provided food assistance information to more than 1,500 clients. HelpBerkeley worked with partner organizations, including the City of Berkeley, several congregations, several non-profits, and some for-profit corporations, to identify sources of free meals and groceries, and make them more accessible to seniors, mobility-restricted people, and, in general, those in need. HelpBerkeley periodically disseminated food source information to its 1,500+ clients. For some clients whose needs are acute (there were more than 30 in 2023), HelpBerkeley directly helped the clients obtain case working assistance from other case working programs, care coordinators, and community workers; become members of other food programs; and obtain food from other sources. HelpBerkeley worked with clients directly through phone calls. HelpBerkeley worked throughout the year with other organizations to create new sources of meals for those who need them.
