Program areas at Mccormick Research Institute

Special needs and therapeutic services the two programs providing these services are known as Heavenly hooves and the horses and heroes' lines of service. These programs are both medical and recreational. Certified riding instructors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and licensed mental health professionals provide services to children with special needs and veterans with ptsd and they use the horse as their primary tool.
Education educational opportunities are offered at the Mccormick Research Institute and include classes for students from the ucf school of medicine, and continuing education programs for medical professionals. As well, the organization offers continuing education credits to health professionals and industry partners.
Research in partnership with the university of central Florida school of medicine, the organization conducts Research studies to evaluate how equine-assisted therapies can impact individuals with autism and also veterans with ptsd. In this effort, we aim to impact the way insurance companies and the va support this modality of treatment and, in turn, more individuals will benefit from similar services around the world.
Veterans recreational the organization is home to a horses and heroes drill team that is showcased at various rodeos and events honoring combat veterans. As well, in the horses & heroes program, veterans with ptsd receive ten weeks of group counseling in an equine-assisted environment.
