Heart of the Valley Birth and Beyond provides maternal health education and support. They train and certify community-based doulas to provide culturally and linguistically matched services for Medicaid priority populations in a three-county region of Oregon. Additionally, they conduct research and evaluation of services provided in collaboration with area Medicaid payer and evaluate maternal autonomy and respect as part of a multi-state project.

Program areas at Community Doula Program

We trained 14 new doulas, 50% of whom are bipoc, tremendously expanding our ability to offer culturally matched care. And we were able to hold the training at our very own monarch on 4th! We've helped more families than ever before! Right now, we're at an incredible 45% growth rate in referrals overall for 2024.
In partnership with reconnections counseling, we received funding from the state of Oregon to expand our specialized services for pregnant and parenting folks in recovery or current substance use disorder from lincoln county to now offering these services in linn and benton counties.we offered a fantastic and varied selection of trainings and workshops at monarch on 4th.we stocked a Community closet and food and hygiene pantry, open to the public and completely free for families.we added an extra two postpartum visits for all clients who have inh or pacific Community solutions insurance, getting families off to a great start with additional support. We secured a $10,000 grant for online advertising of our services.we received a $100,000 grant from intercommunity health network to continue providing Doula services and support monarch on 4th.
Our non-profit provides free Doula services across 5 counties in Oregon. All of our services are provided at no cost to pregnant and postpartum people with medicaid insurance. We have served over 1,700 families.families receive prenatal visits, continuous labor and birth support, and postpartum visits. We were able to double the number of postpartum visits we offer.
