Restore: restore is a local social enterprise of Habitat that accepts and re-sells donations of gently used durable goods including building materials, appliances, furniture, and home furnishings. All restore revenues support Habitat's ability to plan and execute on its affordable housing and education programs, while also serving a significant social and environmental function, annually diverting more than 795 tons of waste from local landfills. The restore experienced several record-breaking months in sales this past year.
Affordable homeownership opportunities: Habitat for Humanity completed construction of two single-family homes in the silver creek village development and began construction on the next phase of our townhome project. We are excited to have started six affordable homes serving families between 30 % - 80% of the ami and are built with support from our community. Our homeowners are selected through a competitive application process that includes comprehensive financial education and are all asked to contribute "sweat equity" during the construction process. Repair/maintenance/weatherization program: burn smart Summit county is a 3-year project which ended in fall 2021. It is a collaborative project with the Summit county health department and Utah physicians for a healthy environment. Habitat provides education and outreach about the health and environmental risks of wood smoke and offers wood burning fireplace exchanges. Special requests for maintenance were consulted one-on-one with a referral program, matching need with talent. In total, the burn smart program assisted with the removal of 30 wood burning stoves from residences in Summit county. Education programs and referrals: our critical education programs serve everyone in the community with the opportunity to understand and plan their financial futures. We also prioritize preparing low and moderate-income buyers for homeownership. This program includes free financial workshops and multi-session online courses, free housing counseling integrating in-person and online resources, and free advocacy and one-on-one referrals in-person and by telephone. This robust program helps hard-working people achieve economic stability. In the past year we served more than 438 individuals and 206 households. Volunteer engagement: to maximize the efficiency of program delivery in all our service areas, Habitat utilizes a team of dedicated volunteers. During the 2022 fiscal year, Habitat recorded 6,437 volunteer hours from 104 volunteers.
