Habitat for Humanity - Harrisburg Area HFH of GTR

Through generous funding Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area was able to fund the repairs of several homes through the critical home repair program. the critical home repair program is designed to help keep low-income families in their existing home by making home repairs for which there is an need. Along with other requirements, household gross income must be below 80% of the Area median family income in order to qualify. 2022-2023 fiscal year saw the completion of 13 critical home repairs, bringing the total number of homes impacted since 2007 to 226. One homeowner who paid in full her 18-year mortgage now owns her home. Currently, Harrisburg Habitat has 26 homeowners in its portfolio. We were also able to work with 729 volunteers for a total number of 4,224 volunteer hours.

Restores accept donations and sell a constantly changing inventory of diverse, high-quality merchandise to the public at a fraction of the retail price, while diverting reusable household items and building materials from Area landfills. Sales of donated items help Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area partner with local families to build, rehabilitate and repair safe and affordable homes in the community.
