Program areas at Griffin Center for Inspired Instruct SoundSTART
Providing face-to-face and tele support services to 300 children who are deaf and hard of hearing throughout Oregon. One third live in rural areas and more than half are from low income homes. Families receive guidance on how to support their child's ongoing development. Families also receive resource materials and children's books.
Providing Educational Audiology services to 67 students who are Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing attending 31 different schools in rural Oregon. Supporting the use of remote microphones in the classroom. Training classroom teachers and teachers of the deaf in device troubleshooting.
Monitoring the statewide implementation of the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention program in Oregon. More than 45,000 screenings were tracked, 1000+ were referred for follow up, and 89 were identified with a hearing loss.
