Program areas at Green Extreme Homes Community Development Corporation
During 2018 Green Extreme Homes Community Development Corporation rehabbed and sold fourteen (14) houses/lots. Green Extreme started construction at the end of 2017 on a seven (7) bedroom four and half (4.5) bath transition home for female veterans in a Controlled Environment Agriculture building that was completed and opened in September 2019. In addition the organization receives and uses contributed services in the make ready of many of the homes it rehabilitates. During 2019, over two-hundred thirty (230) volunteers and over forty-seven hundred (4,700) hours were received from local businesses (Home Depot, Bank of America, and Citibank) and the Douglass Neighborhood Association in the construction of the home for female veterans mentioned above. All total there were over twenty-seven (27) volunteer events during 2018. In 2019, with the exception of licensed trades, the home mentioned above for female veterans was built with volunteer labor. Female veterans are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population. With that in mind, Citi Bank teamed with Green Extreme Homes to build the Mullins Street home to serve the homeless female veterans. The home creates a nurturing environment for these ladies to get back on their feet and to move on to independent living. During 2020 the transition home for female veterans was fully occupied. Because of the effect of the pandemic Green Extreme had approximately 415 volunteer hours mostly through zoom and face time offering services to their female Veterans at the Mullins house. In 2021 the Mullen Street Home continues to flourish and provide for homeless female veterans. Green Extreme Homes was in a holding pattern for most of 2021 as the President of GEH spent a great deal of time out of state at a cancer facility caring for her husband (the Chairman of GEH). 2022 has been a year to reorganize and concentrate on the Reed House located on Mullen Street for female veterans. Regarding 2023, Green Extremes Homes only venture to date since losing their Chairman to cancer is owning and managing the Reed House. GEH continues to house and support Female Veterans in need. Citibank volunteers manage the Hydroponics onsite and work with the women Veterans to assist in job placement, retraining, and upward mobility. Citibank provided over five-hundred (500) man hours of community service at the Reed House.
