Program areas at Greater Richmond Scan - Stop Child Abuse Now
The Child advocacy center is a place for abused children and their nonoffending families to receive Child forensic interviews, trauma-focused treatment, victim and family advocacy, multidisciplinary case review, and case tracking in one physical location. The cacs served 983 children who were alleged victims of severe physical or sexual Abuse (including human trafficking, Child pornography and witness to violence) and 689 adults.
The circle preschool program (cpp) offers early childhood education and mental health treatment to preschool-age children who have experienced trauma related to Abuse, neglect or exposure to domestic violence. By incorporating caregivers, Scan also significantly improves family functioning. Cpp served 18 children and 31 caregivers in 21-22.
The family support program seeks to strengthen families and give caregivers the tools they need to provide healthy homes for children. Fsp provides services along a continuum, ranging from primary prevention activities to tertiary intervention groups. Family support program served 330 caregivers and 24 children during the year.
Richmond court appointed special advocates provides Child advocacy services to abused and neglected children referred by the Richmond juvenile and domestic relations court judges. Casa accomplishes this by assigning carefully recruited, trained and supervised communityvolunteers to work "one-on-one" with abused and neglected children and their families. Richmond casa served 220 children in 21-22.
Community programs emcompasses all of Scan's prevention programs and initiatives that are at the organizational, community, and state level, including the Greater Richmond ticn (trauma informed community network) and Scan's trauma informed education work. Community programs reached over 5,500 adults through resilience sreenings and various trainings on how to recognize and report Child Abuse and neglect, trauma informed practices and positive parenting. Scan serves as the backbone for the Greater Richmond ticn, which includes over 500 members and 160 organizations. Additionally, Scan provides technical assistance and consultation to 30 ticns across Virginia
