Lawrence Family medicine residency: the nation's first accredited community Health center-sponsored Family medicine residency program. Affiliated with tufts and umass, we currently train over 30 medical residents annually. The Health Center has 200 alumni who are working in underserved communities all over the country and the world.
Community support services (css)- the programs within this department offer assistance in addressing the social determinants of Health by helping our patients with unmet social needs such as Health insurance and other state benefits, transportation, utility assistance, referrals to community resources, food security, housing, etc. Within css, our hiv prevention program provides outreach to high risk populations, hiv, hepatitis c, & sexually transmitted infection screening and linkages to treatment and services. Additionally, the program provides overdose education and narcan distribution, distribution of risk reduction materials as well as syringe services as public Health prevention strategies. Our hiv program offers medical case management and care management, peer support and transportation services for hiv+ individuals in the area. Additionally, our program has a strong continuous quality improvement component that in addition to the care management helps improve the lives and Health outcomes of individuals living with hiv/aids.
