The Great Reno Balloon Race (GRBR) began in 1982 as a way to keep visitors in Reno on the weekend between the State Fair and the Air Races. The vision was to create something that would endure as a gift to the community - safe, friendly and free. GRBR is now the nation's largest free hot-air balloon event with an average of 150,000 people attending the race over the period of three September days.
