Mission service programs - goodwill-suncoast helps people secure training, find jobs, become more independent, and support their families through a variety of programs including job connection services, employment training and internships, youth development services, service coordination for housing residents, financial literacy for youth, and free gowns for young women who may not be able to afford them, offered with career services. These programs assist individuals with disabilities as well as those who face other disadvantages such as lack of training or education. Total people served: 1,063. (continued on schedule o) (continued from part iii, line 4.c.) Here is a story of one of the many people served in the mission service programs: ashlynn majetich began her journey as a junior ambassador of Goodwill (jag for short) with jag virtual in july 2021. At the time, through key club and other local volunteering outlets, ashlynn had already earned 700 hours of community service, well above the 100-hour requirement for the Florida bright futures scholarship. Through jag virtual, ashlynn took her already-impressive volunteering resume to the next level, even during a pandemic-induced isolation. For 15 months, ashlynn participated with jag virtual across six sessions, earning a total of 135 hours of community service with Goodwill industries-suncoast, all while learning about Goodwill's mission.ashlynn embraced the mission of lifelong learning and the power of work. "during my sessions, i found that so many people were unaware of all that Goodwill does and am proud to have helped educate them," ashlynn said. Ashlynn employed creative ways to perform donation drives through jag. For bookworks, she collected money by completing chores for neighbors and friends, and then used the funds she generated to purchase new children's books. Ashlynn helped to bring a love of reading to the hearts and minds of 286 children. Another pillar of Goodwill that ashlynn exhibited was in sustainability and environmental awareness. Ashlynn personally removed 330 lbs. Of refuse from her local community. In the spirit of lifelong learning, ashlynn researched ways she and her family could strengthen the impact of their established recycling routine. Having noticed that their recycling methods overlooked common items like egg cartons, plastic grocery bags, and #4 plastics, she made an effort to gather those recyclables from her family and neighbors. During lockdown, residents of heritage oaks and freedom village apartment communities were feeling especially lonely. Ashlynn and other junior ambassadors of Goodwill answered the call by caringly creating cards of encouragement for Goodwill volunteer services to share with the residents. Ashlynn's word of kindness and hope reached 98 residents, helping to make their days just a little less lonely.

Francesca spent her first 90 days in the program working in the kitchen and learning new skills. She took this job assignment very seriously and took advantage of the opportunity to learn as much as possible about food service. While in the program francesca did complete outpatient treatment and also learned new coping skills, thinking patterns, and also how to build a network of supportive individuals she could depend on to hold her accountable in her sobriety. After completing outpatient francesca continued on to alumni groups and was a regular leader of this group. Francesca would later gain employment with beef o brady's as a cook. She would also gain a part time job at 7 eleven as a store clerk. Francesca took advantage of a number of other services within the program as well. Upon her release francesca purchased a vehicle and also secured an apartment on her own. Leading up to her departure from goodwill-suncoast work release francesca began to communicate with her son, in hopes of rebuilding a relationship and becoming a constant in his life. Francesca would release from goodwill-suncoast work release center on september 11, 2022 with $11,772.67, an apartment, stable employment, sobriety, and a new found confidence that she never knew she could have. Francesca still is a participant in services with Goodwill industries and is still doing well and thriving.
