Program areas at God's Love We Deliver
In fy 2020 God's Love prepared and delivered 2.2 million meals. Besides being an all-time record for one year, the fy 2020 meal number was 13% higher than the previous year and 60% more than five years ago. God's Love continued to support the effort to reduce health care costs by keeping severely ill and/or disabled individuals in their homes instead of in institutional facilities. The organization did so by delivering meals to the clients of managed long-term care providers.
God's Love conducted a broad range of activities to advance the food is medicine initiative this year. God's Love virtually conducted, due to the pandemic, the tenth national symposium for food and nutrition services providers , had multiple meetings with new york state legislators to expand coverage for food and nutrition services for critically ill people and sought to solidify the importance of the food and nutrition services category with the local ryan white ema. God's Love also continued its leadership role for the national advocacy committee, hosting webinars, educating organizations on the healthcare landscape and constantly disseminating information on policy and strategy. God's Love is collaborating with other organizations on potential research projects. All of these activities are part of our efforts to address the needs and concerns and further the health of the specific populations We serve.
In fy 2020 the God's Love nutrition department printed a booklet, in english, containing nutrition tips for people with diabetes. The department also reprinted copies of another publication, eating tips for people with hiv, and printed fact sheets on nutritional topics related to a number of illnesses. The department's publications are available in english and spanish. All are free of charge.
