Program areas at GMN Tri-County Community Action Committee
Head start/early head start - provides comprehensive services to low income children ages birth to 5 years of age and pregnant women. Services provided without charge to families and their children continues to make a positive impact on the children as they enter public schools and grow to adulthood.
Home energy assistance program (heap) - a federally funded program that assists income eligible households whose heating services are disconnected, in threat of disconnection, or have less that a ten day supply of bulk fuel. The program can also assist clients with deposits for primary and/or secondary heat sources to establish service.
Community services block grants (csbg) - program provides Community programming to the three county service area. The neighborhood sevice centers are funded through csbg. These centers provide information and referral for all of GMN's programs and a Community forum (policy advisor council) through which low income persons can have their concerns heard. The purpose of the neighborhood service centers is to provide any services that is beneficial for a better way of life for the low income, aged, handicapped, or socially unaccepted persons. Many services are available through the central office and the various programs therein.
Weatherization assistance provides low income households with assistance in weatherizing their homes. Broadband services assist the rural area in connecting with larger municipal areas and provides the needed access for low income areas. Senior services provide assistance and activities for the senior population in the three county service area.
