Program areas at Global Zero

Public education and outreach: Global Zero will engage the public through multiple platforms in order to increase awareness about the nuclear threat. The organization will disseminate materials designed for public and academic consumption that present policy challenges and solutions in approachable, non-technical terms (e.g., educational videos, informational graphics, creative artwork). Global Zero will also expand its youth program to educate the next generation of leaders on nuclear disarmament by increasing the frequency and geographical reach of trainings, workshops and other public events and coordinating speaking engagements for Global Zero experts and policy leaders at educational conferences and in key forums worldwide.
Consolidation and redesign: Global Zero will facilitate processes to build innovation capacity and increase impact through continuous exploration of ideas, frameworks, and emergent strategies for solving the world's nuclear challenges. As part of this effort, the organization will engage thought leaders and stakeholders in the nuclear field and adjacent movements in an ongoing cycle of participatory design, experimentation, learning, and iteration to develop best principles and practices and refine its approach to public education and policy analysis.
Policy research initiatives and analysis: in collaboration with leaders and experts in key countries, Global Zero facilitates the execution, presentation and discussion of analytical work on a variety of key issues relating to nuclear disarmament. This includes topics such as national and regional weapons programs, the current positions of governments and relevant international bodies, warhead monitoring, vulnerabilities of nuclear weapons systems, the de-alerting of nuclear weapons, and potential obstacles on the road to nuclear disarmament. To further collaborative research initiatives and dissemination of policy analysis, Global Zero will coordinate additional international meetings and conferences that bring together world leaders, experts on international security and nuclear arms control, government officials and student leaders.
