Gv mission trip programglobal Ventures mission trip program takes everyday people to countries around the world and involves them in missions work. During a Global Ventures trip, people experience hands-on ministry through children's outreaches, street evangelism, and evening festivals (crusades). Everyone takes part in sharing the gospel with people in various settings. Every trip also provides an opportunity to help a community with a service project such as giving families clean water filters. These trips are typically 10 days long. Gv usually takes 30 to 80 team members on each trip. (there is a prominent part of our ministry that is included in this program; mass crusades. There are trips John and a few of our leaders travel to that we wouldn't bring a team. John conducts mass crusades where typically tens of thousands receive christ. )in 2020, Global Ventures did not travel overseas and conduct any evangelism projects, but we stayed connected virtually with nationals in the countries we typically work in. * we helped mobilize and train nationals on the ground in thailand. Our thailand harvest plan team has been taking trips to the region we will do evangelism projects in the fall of 2021. They have been training pastors and leaders on evangelism. December of 2020, we sponsored these thai pastors in holding an outreach using evangelism tools we provided and trained them with. A good crowd gathered and received christ. * we created a virtual discipleship strategy to add another element to our follow-up. John taught new believer lessons that are translated on video. These video lessons will be used to connect with those attending the (crusades) festivals. This will help provide a way to instantly begin follow up/discipleship from the crusade site, moments after precious people pray to receive christ. These lessons will also be a great additional piece for pastors and leaders to use in their home visits and bible studies that occur after the crusades. This first initial project will be used in thailand. The goal is to translate these lessons in multiple languages.
Stateside ministry programstateside ministry program consists of John ministering in local churches, conferences and bibles schools here in the u.s. The reach podcast with John Smithwick is another avenue that John ministers to those living here in the u.s. John shares about relevant topics from the bible and invites special ministry guests to share and dialog with John as well. The Global Ventures reality tv show that was produced, airs on all the major christian networks for free. Global Ventures has 30 episodes that give people a view of what it's like to do missions and see the real encounters of sharing god's power with those in need. This is another way that gv inspires and motivates christians here in the u.s. to live their life with purpose. In february of 2020, we held an awareness banquet / open house at our ministry facility. 40-50 were in attendance and the majority were new to Global Ventures. It was a great exposure to the ministry. In june of 2020, John started a youtube account and launched a video podcast called, the reach with John Smithwick. A 20-min. Teaching episode was released every week through the end of the year. Hundreds of viewers tuned in and were blessed by John's teachings. This was a great way to stay connected with the body of christ especially in america and our contacts overseas during the pandemic. John ministered in conferences and local churches in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, and Alabama.
Internship programcore (internship program) is a 1 to 3 year program created to equip those who have a heart to reach the world. This program is designed to train people with a biblical foundation as well as the different aspects of how to do missions / ministry. There are a few classroom training classes but most of the training is done through hands on ministry work. The goal is to have each participant become the leader they are designed to be and be self-sustained to do missions or other ministry work. The core program is 12 months long and 3 full days a week, tuesday through thursday. In september 2020, 3 new participants from different parts of the states joined the core program. 4 interns completed the 1st year of the program and returned for the 2nd year. One intern returned for year 3.
