Program areas at Global Aging Institute

Critical issues & vantage point. The Global Aging Institute (gai) received funding to write two related issue brief series on the demographic and economic trends reshaping america and the world. One of the series (critical issues) consists of in-depth analyses and the other (vantage point) consists of shorter mini-briefs. Topics explored included the potential benefits of immigration in an Aging america, the long-term u.s. demographic and fiscal outlook, and the impact of falling birthrates on china's long-term economic and geopolitical prospects.
Educational outreach. In addition to undertaking research projects, the Global Aging Institute (gai) pursues its broad educational mission by participating in national and international conferences, giving speeches and media interviews, and briefing stakeholders on the challenge of Global Aging. In 2023, gai gave presentations at events sponsored by, among others, the Global federation of insurance associations, the employees provident fund of malaysia, the center for strategic and budgetary assessments, and the conference of consulting actuaries.
