Program areas at Team Gleason Foundation
Helping deliver leading edge equipment, services and technology, the Team Gleason Foundation provides ALS patients with the tools to allow people living with ALS to communicate, interact, and live with purpose. Technology and equipment have advanced over the past decade but these services can be taken even further. The Foundation works with creative companies to develop voice creation and hands-free software and technology.The Foundation maintains contact with ALS families receiving specialized equipment and recycles the equipment to new patients when the equipment is no longer needed. In 2023, the approximate value of such equipment repurposed was $2,100,000. In addition, Voice Banking technology was provided to 1,571 patients valued at $2,200,000.For the second year in a row, Team Gleason was voted "Best Non-profit" in Gambit's best of new orleans issue.Team Gleason partnered with Tobii Dynavox, the world leader in assistive communication and the leading provider of technology for the ALS community, to increase access to assistive communications technology for people living with ALS to live purposeful lives. This partnership is focused on engaging the ALS community and clinicians to provide a higher level of service, product, and support to enhance care and help more people living with ALS. Team Gleason participated in the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) 2023 Brain-Computer Interface Technology Conference. BIS consists of industry experts to further BIS and the public's understanding of the status and future developments in Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology and anticipated future developments in research and applications. Team Gleason was honored to have been a part of the Inaugural American Possibilities: White House Demo Day. This event showcased the innovative work of 40 different groups. Team Gleason had the opportunity to spotlight available technologies for individuals with ALS and other disabilities, while also discussing the teams role in propelling innovation and advancing ALS research at an accelerated pace. Ochsner Health and Team Gleason announced a partnership to enhance healthcare, clinical research and care, technology and equipment solutions and other resources for those living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurological disorders. With this partnership, Ochsner and Team Gleason combine their expertise to bring patients a continuum of care experience that delivers evaluations, treatments, teaching and training, and innovative equipment and technology, supporting the shared mission of increasing independence and quality of life to those living from ALS and other neurological diseases.
