Girl scouting is a non-formal and experiential educational program that promotes leadership skills in girls. Grounded in the values of the Girl scout promise and law, the program focuses on leadership and building girls of courage, confidence, and character within a safe, supportive environment. Girl scout camp is the fun of summer camp matched with the leadership development of Girl Scouts. In a fun, supportive environment, girls learn at camp to work together as a team, make decisions and take responsibility for their actions. Through a wide variety of activities to fit their interests, girls at camp develop creative abilities, build independence and self-reliance, learn new skills and gain confidence.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois is the premier leadership development program for girls ages 5 to 17 in 31 counties of Eastern Iowa and seven counties in Western Illinois. With guidance from dedicated volunteers, girls participate in a range of programs that allow them to discover things about themselves, relationships and the world by understanding their values and using their knowledge and skills to explore their world; connect by caring about, inspiring and teaming with others locally and globally; and taking action to make the world a better place. Girl scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character. Total number of members served is 11,974 girls and 3,357 adults.
