Program areas at Gideons Promise
The organization provides training and support to student law clerks, new publicdefenders, chief defenders and other indigent defense providers. The program isdesigned to build a committed, conscientious and competent community of publicdefenders across the nation dedicated to a high standard of legal representation forthe clients they serve. During 2023, the organization trained 583 public defenders and office chiefs. Our programming was executed through our trademarked core 101 model, as well as several export training models in tulsa, Oklahoma, portland, Oregon, new york (leaders' program), Pennsylvania (philadelpia), and Texas (statewide comprehensive programming export.) We benefitted from the support of 31 volunteers and nine interns for over 1,015 hours of service.
