Program areas at Gente Organizada
Collaborating with our coalition partners to promote a community-led movement for change. Our collaborative efforts focus on immigration, housing, public safety, and education. Padres unidos de pomona: a parent-led social action group that organizes and advocates for students and parents in order to improve the academic performance of schools and ensure the district and the city makes decisions that put "children first." Efforts include: students wellness and nutrition council, parent leader training and individual coaching, english and computer literacy classes, and the economic justice in school funding campaign. The pomona students union (psu), a youth-led social action group that seeks to engage pomona's youth in local government and community affairs, inspiring a passion for civic engagement. Our efforts include: hype/mental health campaign, youth commission campaign, youth diversion in pomona, and voces de cambio community history project.
