Program areas at GCC
Gateway Community Charters (gcc) operates nine charter schools and serves over 5,800 students in the greater sacramento area. Gcc operates in sacramento and yolo counties and partners with five separate authorizing agencies, twin rivers unified, san juan unified, sacramento city unified, elk grove unified, and yolo county office of education. Each school has its own unique mission and vision but all of the schools serve traditionally underserved student populations. Gcc serves over 2800 english learners and each school has a free and reduced lunch population of 62 percent or higher. Four of the schools serve primarily ninth through twelfth grade students who are credit deficient and have other risk factors such as homelessness, teen pregnancy, probation, or foster youth. All of our schools are accredited through the western association of schools and colleges (wasc). Gcc has three authorized international baccalaureate (ib) world schools. Gcc serves over 1500 students in a free expanded learning program after school. Gateway Community Charters serves as the management organization for the nine Charters in order to allow the school principals and staff to focus on the needs of the students and Community. Gcc assists the schools with budget management, staff development, payroll, leadership development, personnel, and data management. Gcc is honored to have been nominated one of sacramento's best places to work in 2023. The graduation and student retention rates have increased at the independent study high schools. At the site based schools, academic indicators show positive growth in multiple areas and subgroups. Students and families are extremely satisfied with the schools and overall enrollment has continued to increase annually.
