Program areas at Future Front Texas
Creative learning spaces/educational guide & community resources/community events:we provided many educational opportunities to the community through our public workshops, educational series & conferences which explored creativity, community building and resilience.we provided the community access to our blog, a living collection of free resource guides & interviews.more than 77 volunteers, board members, community curators and collaborators joined us throughout the year to raise over $16,500 for our programs and contribute 750 hours of support to the community.we turned our headquarters into a mini-residency, welcoming immersive takeovers from designer lucid voyage boutique to community org good group atx to installation artist molly sydnor.we piloted our first iteration of community clubs, which saw 12 different Future Front members host free programming for more than 300 community members in austin. Through our festival, the Front festival, we provide peformance and commission opportunities to artists, while connecting them to new fans and community members.the Front festival, after being scaled down for the past three years, was back to its true form. From august 25th to 28th, we occupied three venues throughout austin,tx for four days of music, film, summer activities and a meeting of minds. More than 800 guests across Texas joined us to celebrate work by over 35 women and lgbtq+ artists. Through donations at the door and our generous sponsors, we were also able to raise over $500 for our creative Future of Texas fund.
Through our market program, the Front market, we amplified women and lgbtq+ creatives, artists, designers, founders and leaders and provided them access to new customers. The Front market hosted its first spring and fall season for the frist time since the shutdown, with 406 vendors across both seasons.with a team of over 200 people and four months of collaboration, the Front markets spring season opened for two days. The markets buildout generated more than $10,000 in commissions and contracts for women-and queer-owned businesses and production teams in austin. The market connected over 160 women and lgbtq+ creators and small business owners from across the state of Texas with over 4,000 visitors. Over $2,000 was raised for our creative Future of Texas fund. We also hosted two parties around the market to support various causes including an earth day initiative and a community fundraiser with other austin based organizations. (continued on schedule o)
Due to covid shutdowns,our biannual entrepreneurial conference, work, was not active in 2021 or 2022 but will return at a later date.
