Program areas at Fundacion Bechara
Be brave raises awareness and educates our community in autoimmune conditions/ diseases. We support physicians' continuing education and biomedical research studies in an effort to advanced medical discoveries that will unravel trigger causes, innovative treatments, and possible cures for these chronic conditions. We conducted 2 medical seminars in an effort to educate primary physicians as well as specialists in the importance of early diagnosis, early treatment, and updated research findings of autoimmune disorders. Through these seminars we educated over 200 physicians bringing to them the necessary tools to properly care for patients in our community. We also made our yearly contribution to the be brave fund at the brigham and women's hospital. Through fundacin Bechara's community response initiative, we also supported the medical community battling the covid-19 pandemic by donating kn95 masks to hospitals and clinics throughout the island.
The quico Bechara project seeks to help educate, equip and empower our community to be ready to respond to sudden cardiac arrest emergencies and to raise awarness of the importance of automatic external defibrilators (aed's) have as a link in the chain of survival. This is achieved by donating aeds to non-profit organizations, schools, government entities, and sport complexes, as well as establishing public access defibrillation (pad) programs. Furthermore, the quico Bechara project raises awarness on the importance of aed use by providing ordinary citezens with basic aed training and basic cpr skills. The project also assist our community in times of need.
Dare to be brave - community awareness educational event. Two rheumatologists and one gastroenterologist spoke to over four hundred women about the importance of early diagnosis and early treatment of autoimmune disorders. Videos of the foundation's work over the years were presented, as well as physician testimonials of our medical committee, stressing the community of the significant impact Fundacion Bechara has as a non-profit organization.
Unraveling the complexity of autoimmune disease. Fundacion Bechara's 13th medical seminar for physicians to promote early diagnosis and proper treatment of rheumatic and autoimmune diseases. The educational event consisted of 5 conferences with renown physicians from both the united states and puerto rico. Around a hundred physicians attended the conference.
Be brave: rheumatology updates for physicians. Fundacion Bechara's 14th medical seminar targeted to primary physicians in an effort to advance early recognition of patient's symptoms and early referral to specialists.
