Hospital operations and public health outreach programs: 1. Subsidy of kida hospital operations applied to salaries of 50 healthcare workers: $126.144. Kida hospital provides 24-hour inpatient care, labor and delivery, c-sections as needed, minor surgery, outpatient care including hiv testing, immunizations, prenatal care and family planning services. In 2022 there were 2,907 inpatient admissions, 3,913 outpatient visits, 395 babies delivered, 501 family planning visits, 1,494 women received prenatal care, 1,428 hiv tests were performed, 95% of 520 active hiv+ clients suppressed their viral load, 725 surgical operations took place and 11,417 were vaccinations performed. 2. Subsidy for community outreach: $3,028. Community outreaches continued in 2022 to address primary health care needs: 4,659 vaccinations were done, family planning sessions were conducted, and women received prenatal care. Kida's drama group resumed their educational shows during community outreaches. Trained volunteers visited many of the 520 hiv positive clients in their homes. The drama group also helped promote kida's health insurance cooperative (kchip).
Capital projects: $21,296 for new van and architectural plans for a future radiology building. Van used in transporting drama group, outreach teams and patients: $20,080. Architectural plans for a future building to house x-ray and ultrasound: $1,116.
Economic empowerment programs for the poor: 1. Orphan and vulnerable children education costs: $34,500. Ugandan schools reopened in 2022. 109 students were supported with school fees, supplies and counseling. Kida staff monitored student progress with home and school visits. 2. Vocational school for youth subsidy: $3,132. Students pay a small tuition that partly covers the cost for teacher salaries and supplies. Goal is for each student to learn a marketable trade and earn income. In 2022 instruction continued in the classes of brick building, carpentry, tailoring and hairdressing for 26 students.
