Program areas at Friends of Willow River-Kinnickinnic State Parks

Supporting, assisting, and promoting Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks by providing naturalist educator services, presenters, and educational materials. In 2022, with a volunteer board of ten, and with one full-time naturalist employed, the Friends:Offered 148 programs to 5,500 participants of all ages and backgrounds through school field trip programs, naturalist classes, weekend events, and drop-in programs focused on geology, human history, the natural environment, recreation, and other educational and seasonal topics.Raised over $31,000 to purchase a new UTV for the use of volunteers who groom miles of ski trails maintaining the reputation of the park as a premier cross country skiing and ski-training destination.
