Program areas at Friends of the Palo Alto Parks
The Magical Bridge Playground is heralded as the nation's most innovative inclusive public playground designed to be a place where everyone can play. The project is a partnership between the Friends of the Palo Alto Parks (FOPAP) and the City of Palo Alto. The Playground opened in April 2015 and there is continuing support for programs at the Park for the benefit or all. Continuing programs include a summer music series and other special events at the park, a Kindness Ambassador program that promotes inclusive play, and a summer intern program to further support the playground and train future inclusive playground leaders (this program was supported by a grant from the City). In addition, some playground upgrades were funded.
In partnership with the City of Palo Alto, a commemorative bench was installed at the Palo Alto duck pond.
The maintenance and enhancement of the California Native Plant plot in Bol Park is paid for by using the 501(c)(3) structure and administrative services of FOPAP
