Program areas at Friends of the Animal Shelter

Friends of the Animal Shelter (fotas) supports the programs of jackson county Animal services with trained volunteers who assist with Animal adoption and care. Specific fotas programs include: volunteer training; adoption counseling; adoption outreach; providing foster homes for underage, ill or stressed animals; medical assistance; and capital projects at the Shelter that directly improve Animal health and well-being. Specific programs for dogs include: walking, training, playgroups for socialization, and "project street dogs" for assisting the homeless with free spay/neuter. Specific programs for cats include: cat care, cuddling and socialization, the "working cats" program which places cats on farms, and the spay/neuter program which provides financal support to increase spay/neuter to reduce unwanted litters.
