1. Fsmc awarded $2.2m emergency grant for covid-19 relief in april 2020in march of 2020, Friends of Sheba Medical Center was awarded a grant for $2.2m for emergency covid-19 relief at Sheba Medical Center. With the arrival of the pandemic in israel, Sheba took the lead in the nation's preparedness response by creating specific isolation wards to treat victims of the outbreak. As the crisis unfolded, it was evident Sheba needed a dedicated intensive care unit to treat the most severely ill patients whose survival and recovery depended on being ventilated. Sheba therefore established a critical corona care intensive care unit (ccc-icu) in a protected, underground parking lot on the hospital campus. The unit covers 2,000sqm, holding 40 beds that are divided into 3 wings of approximately 12 beds each. This was the most essential component of Sheba's emergency response effort, and the one facility that will remain in use in perpetuity. The generous gift was spent immediately by Sheba on 12 beds and accompanying equipment (a respirator, feeding, injection and volume pump, blood warming device and monitors), a disinfecting robot, mobile ultrasound to scan patient's lungs, an ecmo machine and defibrillator monitor. 2. In may 2020 fsmc converts nearly $200k of 2020 women of achievement proceeds into covid-19 support for Sheba Medical centerdue to the pandemic, fsmc was forced to cancel our annual women of achievement luncheon in april 2020 only three weeks prior to the scheduled event that expected over 400 participants to attend. To recognize the donations in 2020 and provide support to Sheba during this immense time of need, fsmc worked with hundreds of donors to convert their gifts after the event was cancelled (originally intended for pediatric mental health) to covid-19 emergency relief at Sheba Medical Center. 3. $1m raised for Sheba Medical Center's first ever international virtual galafsmc was honored play a leading role in Sheba Medical Center's first ever international virtual gala in 2020 alongside of Sheba's Friends from israel, europe, canada, south africa and more. The gala was viewed by over 1,200 participants across the globe. Together, Sheba's Friends raised over $1m in support of covid-19 relief at Sheba Medical Center. Fsmc in los angeles is proud to have been responsible for raising over $400k of the $1m total.
