Free People of Color Battle of New Orleans War of 1812 Society Museum

I began in 2020 by transferring years of research, documents, photos, and records that I spent years accumulating to raise funds to build a museum to house and share this history with our next generations. We have no employees and very little overhead so far and only volunteers to help with the research into the genealogy of the Free People of Color, slaves, and indigenous people who contributed to saving the City of New Orleans as well as the US in Dec and Jan of 1815 in the last battle of the War of 1812. The Foundation preserves and shares this history and assists many to find their own ancestors in our records. Due to the pandemic and Hurricane Ida last year, we have had to overcome major obstacles but we are still persevering.
