Program areas at Franklin County Council on Aging
Meal services for the elderly- provide fresh meals for walk-in clients and delivery to home bound clients in the Franklin County, Kentucky area. Due to COVID, the walk-in clients are either drive-up or they also delivered at their home just like the home delivered meal clients. There were 5,443 drive-up meals served to 81 different people. All of the rest of the congregate meals were delivered to their homes. In total, there were 61,691 meals delivered to 394 people.
Publish 12 issues of the Grapevine newsletter for members that show all of the center activities, and meals for the months. It also has pictures and articles that would interest the membership. Due to COVID, the newsletter was even more important to communicate with members. There were more activities actually in the newsletter itself.
Due to COVID, there were only a few activities conducted in-house. The rest were online. There were also more recreational activities put into the newsletter, such as puzzles, etc. There was also at home bingo conducted. Provided activities and services for the elderly as shown below: 4,932 units of education to 575 people 4,838 units of health promotion to 594 people 12,815 units of information and assistance to 671 people 2,519 units of outreach to 334 people 9,281 units of recreation to 653 people 563 units of telephone reassurance to 243 people.
