Program areas at Foundation Park Conservancy
Community benefit activities included caring for 250 acres of revitalized greenspace and neighborhood properties under the ownership and/or care of the Conservancy; promoting outdoor recreation; hosting seven concerts including one in celebration of July 4th; hosting the City of Mount Vernons July 4th fireworks event which was promoted through an Ohio Tourism Co-op, welcoming 10,000 guests into the park; hosted the Bike Knox event with a kids rodeo; hosted Paddle for Heroes event; installed fans in the event center and continued to work on the centers fire suppression system project; partnered to reinforce park grounds along the Kokosing River; coordinated a summer fitness program; partnered to install a storybook trail and maintained two mini lending libraries within the park; managed community lighting requests for the tower and bridges to promote, honor and celebrate special messages from community members; partnered with the school district to provide summer day camp space; planted new heirloom Johnny Appleseed trees; and, marketed the park to reach 600,000 social media users and attract 35,000 visitors to the park website for 111,000 page views.
