Program areas at Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center
Healthcare career and nursing scholarships: education is an essential component of the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center's ongoing commitment to advancing, enhancing, and sustaining the delivery of quality healthcare in Yuma county. As such, the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center awards many different scholarships each year. This important financial support makes it possible for students who aspire to have or advance careers in the health care and allied health fields to pursue their education goals. Scholarships are also awarded to those specifically interested in nursing or advancing their nursing education, often moving from rn to bsrn, pa, or np. Funds are also awarded annually to support advanced nursing certifications.
The cancer resource Center fund provided aid to support transportation, prosthetics, liquid nutrition, and other needs of Yuma Regional Medical Center cancer Center patients. Funds are requested by the cancer resource Center as needed to re-stock for patient use.
The sunrise fund provides funding based on a request for fund process established by the board of trustees. Fund requests come in and are reviewed and approved by the board. Funding priorities are determined in collaboration with hospital leadership. In 2022, funds were used to purchase Medical equipment, a zollx series cardiac monitor for a rural ambulance service to help improve patient outcomes.
The pediatric oncology fund provides financial assistance to families experiencing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. These funds can be used to pay for utilities, mortgages, medications, and any transportation costs incurred by the family while the child is in treatment. There is a pediatric oncology fund committee that reviews and selects families via a simple application process. Families are required to submit documentation and an application and can receive funding for up to 3 years. The first year award amount is $2,500. Years 2 and 3 have a limit of $1,500.
