The farmers market, run by dedicated volunteers, was able to bring together regional farmers with locally grown products to a community wishing to purchase healthy fresh products and produce. In addition to providing healthy, fresh regionally grown food, the market serves as a community hub, bringing thousands of people to the downtown central business district and promoting commerce within the village. An important part of our mission is educating shoppers about the benefits, both health and economic, of farmers markets. We engage a range of community volunteers including almost two dozen middle and high school interns who get community service credit while learning about regional agriculture and the sources of food in the hudson valley.
